Sweet Summer

Dear Ruby,

Tonight was your last night of ballet classes for the summer session, and your teacher finally let all the parents come in to see you dance.  I got pretty much the entire 3 or 4 minutes on video and your dad took pictures.  Grandma and Grandpa were next door in Sideline Cafe, there was a slight communication error, but they were feeding Henry a bottle anyway.

You were very cute, and it was funny b/c Charlotte was trying to do all the moves too!  HA!  So cute.

We have been so busy with activities and day trips that I haven't written much in your letters, but I will surelly have plenty of time indoors with the cold weather to come.

Your letter from your preschool teacher came in the mail last weekend and it said that your teacher's name was Mrs Jansen.  I don't recognize her from last year, but it says she's been there for a while.  Right now, the plan is for Charlotte to go this year too, but she is still very much a baby, so we will see how that goes.  She will be two next month, but not even two when the school year starts.

We had some family pictures taken over the past weekend by your Aunt Jez and she did a really great job, I'll have to make sure I put those up for your letters.

We have had such an enchanted summer!  Blueberry picking, Horse Riding, Pool Parties, the zoo, Busch Gardens, the Fountains, Maymont, Summer Concerts at Dogwood Dell, Ballet School, Slime Time at Ms Courtney's, a Magic Show, Rock Climbing at Peak Experiences, Animal Encounters, the Playroom, and lots of time together, just laying in the grass, looking at the clouds, breathing in the summer air fragranced with the cocnut smell of sunscreen.

I think a lot of times, I want to make sure your childhood is balanced, and that I'm giving you the right amount of discipline and structure, but I also really value that sense of wonder and magic that I got from my own childhood with my mother and my dad, and with Cliff.  I always loved having a brother, and I loved that he loved me.  I hope you all have similar experiences.

Love, Momma
