Sweet Waterbabies

Hanging out with Lisa and Taylor

So today was very hot.  We decided to spend it outside anyway, at a playground with Lisa and Taylor while Daddy was at school.  You dug in the sandbox and explored the jungle gym while Charlotte got dirty on the mulch. I was so proud of you for keeping your pigtails in- you look so cute, and hardly ever let me put your hair up!  They lasted about 30 minutes before you clawed them out.
After we played for a while, we had a late lunch/early dinner at Cici's pizza with Lisa and Taylor.  Baby Charlotte was very fussy and tired, so we decided to head home after that.

When we got home, Charlotte went to sleep as soon as we laid her down and you and I painted together.  This is the first time I've actually been able towork on one of my grown-up paintings while you are workgin beside me. I can't wait until you get bigger and we can do all kinds of things side by side, two big girls just working on their artistic masterpieces!

"Two Dollars"

<-- You, wearing a red shirt that was one of my favorites when your daddy and I were dating.  You called it a "heart dress".

Your vocabulary is exploding and you speak complete thoughts in your sentences now.  Here's an example.  Yesterday, we were in your toddler pool and you and Charlotte were splashing around.  You had your Ariel doll in the pool with you and I saw you talking to Ariel, telling her she was "bad" and it was "not nice to hurt Ruby".  She told me that Ariel needed to go to time out, so I put Ariel in "time out" and told "her" she could come out when she could say she was sorry.  You said "No, Ariel.  My pool.  Ruby in the pool".  I asked if Ariel was allowed back in the pool.  You said "No.  Ruby In, Ariel in Time Out".  I asked if Charlotte was allowed in the pool, to humor you, and you said "Yes. Baby Charlotte In.  Ruby In.  Ariel in Time Out".  Such clarity. :)
Poor Ariel was eventually back in your good graces, was allowed to "apologize and give Ruby a hug", and you continued splashing and pouring, laughing and singing for a few more minutes before we had to head inside.

We are planning your birthday party to be a "mermaid party" this year.  Number 3!  If anyone asks how old you are now, you say "Two Dollars", which started after we made an ice cream stand and you pretended to sell ice cream for two dollars to us.  Somehow in your brain, the concept merged that you are also two dollars old.  We're working on that one, but it's so cute when you say it, it's hard to correct you!

For Mother's Day (Don't Look Yet, Grandma!!)

Well here is Ruby giving a hint as to what we are doing for Mother's Day this year:

Give Up?!  I know, Ruby is great at clues. :)

We're doing clay hand and footprints of both kids.  They are baking now, and then, although I want it to stay white.. Since this is Ruby's present to her grandma's, I am letting her do what she wants to do to it, which is paint it purple.  We did Charlotte's foot and handprints too!

Here they are baking:

And here is MY present from Ruby for Mother's Day.  Mrs. Grimes and Mrs. Jelly helped- this is super cute!!
