Workout

You and me, doing an exercise video. LOL!  You came up with your own moves.

Egocentric Tangential Reasoning

We were getting Ruby layered up and ready to go sledding at Uncle Dave and Aunt Michelle's house. I had the hat, gloves, scarf, boots out in front of her. ME- "Okay Ruby, what do we need to wear when we go sledding?" RUBY- "UMM..Snow..Tutu". ME- "A tutu? No. We need our boots for our feet! What else do we need for our hands?" RUBY- "Umm.. purse". ME- "No silly, we need GLOVES for our hands. What do we need to keep our whole body warm?" RUBY- "Warm! A fire is HOT! Mama." I suggest a coat. "No. Princess Shoes, mama." The rationale of a 2 yr old.

Snow!!

You and dad played outside in the snow while Charlotte and I stayed inside and made a first attempt at rhubarb muffins.  Your mom is not sure how she feels about rhubarb in general.  After baking the muffins, it's certain. I am just not a big fan of rhubarb.

BUT.. look how much fun you and daddy had outside playing in the snow!

Reading Together

Today it snowed more than I've seen it snow for years!!  It snowed all day long today.

We were inside for most of the day, except for a brief play outside.  We read lots of books, including "Guess How Much I Love You", "Sealed with a Kiss", one of your favorites, "The 12 days of Christmas", and "Goodnight Moon".

"Stuffing in My Nose"

Dear Ruby,
The other day you woke up with a runny nose.  I asked you if you felt ok and you said "Yes, but I have stuffing in my nose".  Actually more like "Yes. But a stuffing in a nose"

Love You,
Momma

Playing Outside!

My little energizer bunny!  Today was warm and sunny, so we played outside with balls and with chalk.
Baby Charlotte sat in her stroller and watched you play hopscotch and bounce the ball on your head.  She listened intently while you belly laughed and chased the ball.  Someday, she's going to want to be just like you!  I bet she already does.

Snow Family

Ruby had her first preschool homework assignment over the weekend: to construct a snow family.

We had sooo much fun making it and you did a lot of it yourself! You wanted the baby and Spiegel to be high off the ground and I asked you if they were flying. You responded "Uh huh! Flying!"

Chasing Sunshine

Today was beautiful! So we went to the park to breathe in that fresh air and get some sunshine. It was Charlotte's first time on the swing and as you can see, you were none too happy at having to share the attention of the swing pusher with your little sister.

But.. you warmed up to the idea as soon as you saw that you could both have fun while sharing your momma.

Cutie Pie

Here's a cute moment from yesterday- we were having out afternoon snacks of grapes- which you ate a LOT of and decided to make a chair out of Daddy's boots.

Blocks

The way you play with blocks (the ONLY way, I might add) is to build a tower as high as it will go and then knock it down. You don't seem to understand yet that they could represent buildings and other worlds.. you just see it concretely as a big tower that you can knock down.
You sure do have a fun time knocking them down, though!

Keering the Babbits and Raddits

Dear Ruby,

Daddy has been saying since your Aunt Laura was a baby that crying can "scare the rabbits".

You have been going up to your sister when she cries and saying "Shhhh! You'll keer the babbits!"

Thumbsucker

Dear Ruby,

Well thumb sucking is beginning to become an issue for you. I realize you will stop eventually, but at first it was only a ploy for attention, and I think now you are rather dependent on your sweet little thumb.

We are working on sharing and when you grab something and say "MY TURN!" We are trying to get you to put your fingers together and ask instead "Can I have a turn, please?"

You are imitating your cousin saying "her her her" which is not very nice.. so we're also working on that.

Other than that, you are wonderful. You throw away your sister's diapers without me even asking.. you are working on potty training. You are trying to be a good eater, especially when there is princess soup involved.

Your favorite song right now is Laurie Beckner's "March of the Dinosaurs", which you call "so-sores".

Love,
MAMA
